Being Present
Being present is hard work and requires attention, patience, and the willingness to ask for clarification. Being present offers emotional rewards, too. Understanding the thoughts and feelings of others, allowing them to ask for what they need rather than guessing or anticipating incorrectly what is going on in the minds and emotions of another person can reduce arguments, hurt feelings, and disappointments.
Just for today, I will practice being "present" for another person by listening without interrupting and observing with my full attention.
